Hydrogen generator evaluation results using water reduction

  • water is electrolyzed, hydrogen and oxygen are produced simultaneously.
  • To generate 1 Kg of hydrogen per hour, all 9 Kg of water must be electrolyzed.
    • Hydrogen : 1Kg /HR.
    • Oxygen : 8Kg /HR.
  • Evaluation results and power conversion for this hydrogen generator

Measurement method using MFM (Mass Flow Meter)

  • For accuracy, a pilot hydrogen generator is manufactured and evaluated using MFM (gas flow measurement using temperature difference)
  • Evaluation results
    • Input : 10.5V * 207A = 2,173.5W
    • Output : 48.2L Brown Gas (Purity of H2: 66~68%)

    • Input : 10.5V * 1,186A = 12.6KWh
    • Outpu : 275L/Min, Brown Gas (1Kg H2/Hr.)

In other words, it is calculated that 12.6KWh of electricity is required to generate 1Kg of hydrogen per hour.

Comprehensive summary of development status

  • 1. Evaluation results using water reduction
Results of water reduction evaluation of 20 Cell:
    • About 10~17KWH for 1Kg Hydrogen/HR.
    • Experimental method of forced evaporation of gas contained in electrolysis and generator and water for 30 minutes
  • 2. Evaluation results using MFM
Evaluation result using MFM by developing 40 Cell * 6 Unit pilot equipment:
    • Appears to be approximately 12.6KWH for 1Kg hydrogen/HR.
    • Measured up to hydrogen purity and secured up to 66~68%
  • 3. Future commercialization direction
Results of water reduction evaluation of 20 Cell:
    • (1) Determining the direction of commercialization using brown gas by handing over pilot equipment to a company that uses brown gas
      • Building a pilot power plant by installing a hydrolysis burner and a turbine
    • (2) Commercialization of hydrogen/oxygen separation as commercialization of Brown gas generator matures
      • Securing 96% level with membrane filter
      • Commercialization by producing high-purity 99.99% hydrogen with PSA equipment by pressurizing 96% of hydrogen
